Moss Whispers

Such precious feet fit into these little shoes! Oliver loves to put them on and off over and over again. He walks with his left hand held up in a tiny fist and his right arm swinging to his step. And when he gets excited he shoots both arms up in the air like he’s walking fast over a speed bump. If he stumbles, which is pretty rare, he picks himself up and brushes his hands together to ‘brush it all off.’ Every step is passionate and important and carries us all on new adventures. A time of so many ‘firsts’ in his life! And to top it all off, there’s a smile and from time to time, a serious/studying look that accompanies each step on his life of adventure! It’s been so fun to walk alongside him and his family this weekend!

This weekend I’m stepping away from painting what my eyes and mind see to spending time with our grandson, Oliver and his wonderful mom and dad. Such wonder, love, curiosity, and intense work on research and development, is the life of a little child.  There is no better way to BE in the PRESENT, and behold the whole display of LIFE! Thank you, Oliver for new eyes every moment! 

I need to stop and share the endings and beginnings in the meadow. Even Martha Julia Agnes Adele would stop to look at these marvels in the meadow! I look forward to this time of year to see my last favorite wildflower of the blooming season in the meadow and here she is in all her glory! In the morning  dew she looks like diamond pearls!

And as these beauties are bringing in the last blooms of the season, this little red maple is the first to turn down at The Hillock to usher in the colors of fall! Francklin and I love them ALL!

I’ve always thought that acorns would be the best currency! At least in these economic times! The reason this little stove is named ‘the queen’s stove’ is because that is the name carved on this actual little stove that is down at The Hillock. Not sure who the queen really is in this story, or even if she ever will show up. No matter. She makes a mean acorn stew!

Posting before midnight is not happening! It’s hard to just let myself stop, go through all the screen shots and rig’a’m’roll to post before that ‘pumpkin transformational moment’ ruled by the clock, and not the paintbrush or the word! I will persist and beat this clock! And for now, I will accept my own timing and begin with NEW RESOLVE once again! Thank goodness for ‘another day’ and another ‘go at it’!

One challenge on this one was the text! I kept rewriting it, changing the order of the the text, and even which pages where certain text would live…even to the last midnight minute! so here goes page 10….for now!

SAVE THE DATE! Wednesday Workshops begin October 30th, 2013, at ACIU Studio, here on Thunder Mountain! Now that writing and painting is getting more detailed and taking longer, and while I’m rewriting some of my older stories, I need to ‘sit a spell’ and tell you about what’s going on in the studio! My wonderful friend, Becky and I have been sorting, re-sorting and I’m slowly thinning out some of the pieces I don’t need anymore to sculpture my life. And soon I will be announcing upcoming StudioProjects/Workshops. Here’s one I’m looking forward to sharing soon!  LET ME KNOW IF YOU WANT TO GET on the LIST! I’m taking a limited number of people, so that we can have a ‘good gathering number’ and plenty of fun workspace for each/all!

Refurbishing Old Chair Bottoms! Bring your old ‘cane less chairs, old belts, old ties, and we’ll have a good ole time creating something fun for your house or for a gift for someone special. Here’s an example of one I did, and what an ’empty chair bottom might look like before you start. This is not traditional chair caning. Instead we are using things on hand to make strong woven or quilted/covered bottoms.

From now on, the drawings/paintings might take me two days instead of one! Lots more detail coming up!  Since these scenes are actual places at The Hillock down in the meadow, they are very fresh in my mind and I find it hard to leave some of the details out! When I later go back and try writing this in prose, it’ll be interesting how it goes!

I spent a good part of today working on drawings of two places, The Writer’s House and Preena’s Spa. Here are photos of ‘the real places’ but the paintings aren’t finished yet. More tomorrow!

They’ve finally made it to the Potter’s Tree! So the search  for the lost shoe has begun for Slab and Martha Julia Agnes Adele! Now we’ll get to go around The Hillock with them on their search. Today was an intense day of working on text and this painting. Need to go get a few more painting supplies as they are running out! I’m realizing that for me to keep up this posting pace I really need to work from morning ’til night! I do love it, though! I guess since learning to read for children is such a reciprocal process of learning from both reading and writing, that learning to paint, draw, and write at the same time could be that way for me! I had to post it in a small form because it looks distorted when it’s big.
